EVERYTHINGโ€™S BETTER WITH LISA BY LUCY EDEN

November 25, 2019 by ReeseRyan

Everything is Better with Lisa by Lucy Eden

Lisa Betancourt has been my neighbor for months, but I didnโ€™t know she existed until the night she threatened me with a baseball bat. To be fair, I kinda had it coming. That was also the night my entire life changedโ€”my biological mother passed away suddenly and mysteriously, leaving behind a surprise baby. The moment I laid eyes on CJโ€™s chubby face, I knew I would do anything for him. What I didnโ€™t know was how to take care of him. Fortunately, Lisa turned out to be my salvation in more ways than one. She stepped in and changed everything. The more time I spend with her, the more I hope the change can be permanent. Unfortunately, the pressure at work and unraveling the mystery of my motherโ€™s past makes me wonder how that could be possibleโ€ฆ

Cole Simmons lives in the brownstone next to mine and was an insensitive jerk, or at least I thought he was until he got custody of his baby brother, whoโ€™s just as adorable as he is.  As the oldest child in a big family, I couldnโ€™t resist stepping in to help when I realized my handsome neighbor was in over his head when it came to babies, though Iโ€™ve learned the hard way that handsome men canโ€™t always be trusted. I moved to New York to start a new life, adjust to my new normal and heal from a bad divorce. Unfortunately, my heart didnโ€™t get the memo, and the more time I spent with Cole and the impossibly sweet CJ, the more I start to wonder if my neighbor isnโ€™t the only one in over his headโ€ฆ

This full-length novel can be read as a standalone but is the third book in the Everythingโ€™s Better series. Youโ€™ll see friends from Everythingโ€™s Better with You, Everythingโ€™s Better with Kimberly & Cherishing the Goddess. Cole & Lisaโ€™s love story is chock full of Enemies to Lovers, Single Parent, Secret Baby (or two), Nanny (no power imbalance) & Fake Engagement goodness and is safe with NO cheating.

โ€œLisa,โ€ he whispered.

โ€œYes, Cole?โ€ I blinked up at him and took a step closer, his hand still resting on mine.

โ€œI wanna kiss you. Can I kiss you?โ€ he asked.

I giggled causing him to pull away.

Iโ€™d never been asked for a kiss before. It was adorable, silly but also somehow incredibly sexy.

โ€œWhat?โ€ he asked. I could see the look of apprehension on his face.

โ€œAre you as good at seducing as you are at apologizing?โ€ I reached up and stroked his cheek. I was suddenly wide awake. I swore I meant to say kissing but the word seducing came out instead. I would have been happy with a kiss but seduction sounded so much better. I couldnโ€™t remember how long it had been since Iโ€™d been seduced.

โ€œIโ€™m very good at seducing.โ€ He scooped me under my thighs and lifted me onto the kitchen island like I was a doll, making his lips more accessible. โ€œIโ€™m a little out of practice.โ€ He swept my hair over my shoulder, exposing my neck, and gently pressing his lips to the soft skin below my ear. I moaned, though I wasnโ€™t sure I meant to and Coleโ€™s body, at least one part of his body, responded.

โ€œGood,โ€ I sighed. โ€œIโ€™m a little out practice, too.โ€ I wrapped my legs around his waist and pressed my body into his. He was rock hard and I found myself was grinding my hips into his erection. The fact that we were both wearing thin pajamas made me feel every contour of his dick and I was flashing back to my thoughts upon seeing him earlier today pushing the stroller. Why were men with babies so fucking sexy?

He kissed his way down my neck and gently lowered me onto the countertop until I was fully reclining with my hair hanging over the other side. He lifted the hem of my shirt and pressed his lips into my soft belly and swirled his tongue into and her around my navel.

Everything is Better with Lisa by Lucy Eden

His head traveled below my belly button and I gasped.

โ€œCole, what are you doing?โ€ I asked as his lips traveled to places no oneโ€™s lips had been before.

โ€œI told you I wanted to kiss you.โ€ He shot me a mischievous smile and slowly stroked the skin under the elastic of my pajama pants, soothing the indentation marks of the waistband. โ€œI didnโ€™t say where I wanted to kiss you.โ€

โ€œOh,โ€ I whispered. โ€œI thought you meantโ€ฆโ€ I trailed off and tucked my bottom lip between my teeth. He smiled, leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine. Then he planted a kiss on my nose, then my cheek before tenderly sucking my earlobe between his teeth and nibbling. I moaned again.

โ€œWell, now that you know what I meant, do you want me to stop?โ€ he whispered in my ear. My body was pulsating heat in a current that traveled up and down my arms before settled in place where Cole was eager to visit.

โ€œNo,โ€ I half sighed, half moaned while shaking my head, causing his lips to brush the shell of my ear. โ€œDonโ€™t stop.โ€

โ€œGood.โ€ He let out a soft chuckle and began to make his way down my body, again hooking his fingers into the waistband of my pajamas and my panties, slowly pulling them over my thighs, ghosting a kiss or a lick on every inch of newly revealed flesh. โ€œBecause Iโ€™m just getting started.โ€

MIXED MATCH BY MIA HEINTZELMAN

November 20, 2019 by ReeseRyan

She was the only woman he wanted. He was the one man she couldn’t trust. Will this unsuited pair clash? Or is it a…

Sophia Kent used to be a badass knife-wielding chef. Nowadays, sheโ€™s lucky if she can remember to put on a bra. Between the move to Portland and unpacking boxes, sheโ€™s glad thereโ€™s only one name on the title. Unfortunately, at the door thereโ€™s a gorgeous messenger with a document claiming sheโ€™s not the rightful owner.

Dead-set on getting his grandmotherโ€™s house back, real estate investor Everett Monroe is determined to see the thief go down, even if he has to deliver the summons himself. Only, the beautiful mess at the door is charming, sexyโ€”and nothing like the man whose familyโ€™s been feuding with Everettโ€™s for generations.

He doesnโ€™t know whether sheโ€™s a pawn or a player, and she doesnโ€™t know heโ€™s not just a messenger, so after a few โ€œchanceโ€ meetings, when she enlists his help to find a location for her restaurant, he agrees. After all, in thirty days thereโ€™s going to be a hearing granting him ownership and sheโ€™ll be long gone. Except, somewhere between sunset mountain hikes, brilliantly lit musical bridges, and picturesque Japanese Gardens, a dangerous attraction weaves its way between the secrets and lies. Forced to confront the truth, Everett must ask himself what good a home is without the one you love to share it with.

SHEโ€™S GOT SOUL BY AJA

October 31, 2019 by ReeseRyan

Zola Lewis is many things to many people. Sheโ€™s a marketing extraordinaire by day, and a podcast host by night. Sheโ€™s also a devoted daughter, a funny and care giving auntie to her sisterโ€™s daughter. But, the one thing she is not, is a wife to a loving husband and sheโ€™s beginning to think that could never happen because sheโ€™s entirely too opinionated for most men. One night on her live podcast, she experienced a challenging caller who seemed to aggravate her more than a little, and Zola wondered who was more opinionated. Zola or the caller?

Khalil Berry was a bit of a nerd growing up, and as a result, also a bit of a late bloomer. Time not spent with girls allowed him to stick with books. His big brain landed him many opportunities and by his mid-twenties, heโ€™d amassed a fortune from his software apps. The latest app heโ€™s developing requires more hands on research and he decides to do the research himself. First stop, listening to a podcast by a woman talking about women; a topic he was beginning to learn more about since his money seems attracts them all the time. The task was simple, listen and take notes. But, her voice is too melodic and her words, well, letโ€™s just say she didnโ€™t know what she was talking about as far as he was concerned. So he calls in to correct her.

Theyโ€™re both great at giving a piece of their mind, but can they hand over their well-guarded hearts?

Chapter 1

Derrick

โ€œHey! Hey!โ€ someone shouted, making Derrick Miller lurch awake.

He opened his eyes and squinted against the bright morning light. He dazedly looked around him, wondering why he had fallen asleep in his car and not his bed. He looked down at himself. And why was he still wearing his tuxedo?

The pounding in his head wasnโ€™t helping him focus. It was like a jackhammer was trying to beat a hole through his skull. His mouth was dry, too. His neck, back, and shoulders ached after sitting up in the driverโ€™s seat for he had no idea how long.

โ€œLook, man, you canโ€™t be sleepinโ€™ here! This ainโ€™t no damn hotel!โ€ a muffled voice shouted at him.

Derrick turned slightly in his seat to find a security guard standing at the driverโ€™s-side door, rapping his knuckles on the glass. The guardโ€”a squat, fat, elderly man in a too-tight uniformโ€”was scowling at him and sending spittle flying at the window.

As Derrick stared back at him, he finally realized where he was. He had fallen asleep in his Nissan in the same parking garage he had parked in last night. After he had left the education gala, after his girlfriend, Morgan, had walked out on himโ€”probably for goodโ€”he had decided to lick his wounds and stay huddled up in his car. Derrick had been too drunk to drive home. He hadnโ€™t wanted to make his bad evening worse with a car accident or getting pulled over by Metro Police for a DUI.

He had already dodged being sent to jail last night. There was no need to take the chance again.

โ€œIโ€™m tellinโ€™ you, man. If you donโ€™t move this car, Iโ€™m callinโ€™ the cops!โ€ the guard shouted. โ€œIโ€™m not playinโ€™!โ€

Derrick held up his hands and nodded groggily. โ€œIโ€™m leavinโ€™. Iโ€™m . . . Iโ€™m leavinโ€™. Just . . . just give me a second to get . . . get myself together. Okay?โ€

He tiredly scrubbed his hands over his face and turned on the engine. He threw the car into reverse and pressed the accelerator, making the car heave back and the guard jump out of the way to keep from getting hit or his toes run over.

โ€œDamn! Watch it! You tryinโ€™ to kill somebody?โ€ the guard yelled.

Derrick didnโ€™t answer him. Instead, he continued to back out of the parking space, though he did so more carefully this time. He looked up and followed the EXIT signs, pointing his car in the same direction as the yellow arrows overhead until he finally reached the gate that would take him out of the garage onto a Northwest D.C. street that was already teeming with morning traffic.

As Derrick made the slow drive back to his apartment building, the events of last night came rushing back to him in lurid detail. The more he remembered, the more he cringed.

In one night, he had not only managed to lose the opportunity to get badly needed funding for the Branch Avenue Boysโ€™ Youth Institute where he was executive director, but heโ€™d also lost his girl . . . his love, Morgan. And he had done it all because of misguided jealousy and furyโ€”all because he had found out his ex, Melissa, was now dating his former best friend, Jamal.

Now sober, Derrick realized how insane he must have looked last night to everyone in that ballroom as he yelled and cursed. He could still hear the echoes of the screams from the crowd around them as he punched Jamal in the face in a fit of rage near the hotelโ€™s elevators.

Did he regret what heโ€™d done? He certainly regretted the aftermath. He did love Morgan and hadnโ€™t wanted her to think otherwise. He had wanted to make a good impression on John and Eliza Mayhewโ€”the wealthy couple whom Morgan had arranged for him to meet at the gala in the hope that they would donate money to the Institute. Derrick hadnโ€™t wanted to squander either opportunity. But how was he expected not to lash out, to not feel anything about Jamalโ€™s betrayal? He was only human; any redblooded man in a similar situation probably would have done the same damn thing. Derrick just wished he hadnโ€™t done it so publicly. He wished Morgan hadnโ€™t been there. He shouldnโ€™t have been so reckless or stupid.

When he arrived at his apartment building twenty minutes later, he pulled into a vacant space, slowly opened his car door, and staggered onto the sidewalk. His head was still pounding. He still felt like he needed sunglasses to keep out the morning sun. A couple of minutes later, he shoved open his front door, revealing an eerily quiet apartment.

He didnโ€™t expect Morgan to be here, even though she had moved in with him briefly. They were both supposed to move into their new apartment in a few weeks in Brookland, near Gallaudet University. It wouldโ€™ve been the first place they had gotten together.

Morganโ€™s lease at her apartment had ended earlier than his. She had been staying here until their big move.

Until I fucked that up, he thought morosely as he closed the apartment door behind him.

Derrick had managed to lose two women and a cat in less than six months. He was certain of it now: He was horrible at relationships.

He walked down the hall to his bedroom, removing his tie from around his neck and his jacket along the way. After heโ€™d stripped off all of his clothes, he looked at himself in the bathroom mirror, pulling back his dreads and securing them with a rubber. Derrick hadnโ€™t been the one hit last night but his eyes were puffy, probably from the lack of a good nightโ€™s sleep. Fatigue was all over his mahoganyhued face. He flexed his sore hand, climbed into the shower stall, and adjusted the shower head from the last time Morgan had used it, making it accommodate his tall height. He felt the hot blast of the water, hoping to wash away the frustration and shame he felt. Derrick emerged from the bathroom thirty minutes later, having brushed his teeth and taken some aspirin. When he did, he heard a thumping sound in his bedroom. He walked down the hall and found Morgan hunched over one of the drawers, shoving some of her clothes into a duffel bag. She was no longer wearing her gown from last night but a T-shirt and shorts. Her curly hair was in a loose bun atop her head.

He leaned against the door frame as he watched her. It was obvious she was unaware he was standing there because she went about her task without even giving him a glance.

He had been through this before when Melissa had packed her things and moved out after she found out he had been cheating with Morgan for months. But watching Morgan go through the same ritual, hurt even more. This was supposed to be the start of something new and fresh.

This was supposed to be the relationship he had finally gotten right. There was no tug-of-war with Morgan like what heโ€™d experienced with Melissa even in their best of times because, though theyโ€™d loved each other, they were too different at heart. With Morgan, everything fell into placeโ€”and he had ruined it.

His phone rang, snapping her attention, making her turn around to look at his cell that sat on one of the night tables. When she did, her eyes landed on Derrick and she held up her free hand.

โ€œI donโ€™t wanna talk,โ€ she said as the phone rang again. She returned her attention to her packing. โ€œI just wanna get some of my shit and get the hell out of here. Iโ€™ll come back for the rest later. Okay?โ€

โ€œI didnโ€™t hear you come in.โ€

โ€œYou werenโ€™t supposed to,โ€ she muttered.

โ€œWhere are you staying?โ€

She didnโ€™t answer him. Instead, she continued to pack.

โ€œMorgan, donโ€™t do this, baby! Look, I know what I did last night was fucked up,โ€ he began, tightening the towel around his waist and walking toward her. โ€œBut I want you to know . . . I need you to understand that it wasnโ€™t because I want to get back with Melissa. I know thatโ€™s over between us. I justโ€”โ€

โ€œThe only reason why itโ€™s over between you and Melissa is because she left you, Derrick,โ€ Morgan said icily. โ€œI was the consolation prizeโ€”the backup. I always was. I know that now. And the only reason youโ€™re upset Iโ€™m leaving is youโ€™ll be alone. But youโ€™ll find another girl. Men like you always do. Another sucker will come along. Donโ€™t worry!โ€

โ€œYou arenโ€™t a sucker and you werenโ€™t the consolation prize, damn it! I really do lovโ€”โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t want to hear it anymore. Iโ€™m tired of your bullshit and your lying! Youโ€™re wasting your breath!โ€ She

glanced at his phone again. โ€œYou should probably answer that. It keeps ringing.โ€

The ringtone continued to fill the bedroom. He grimly pursed his lips and stepped around her to answer his cell.

โ€œYeah?โ€ he said after pressing the green button.

โ€œMr. Miller,โ€ Gary, one of the security guards at the Institute answered, โ€œsir, Iโ€™m glad I caught you. Weโ€™ve got a situation up here.โ€

Derrick frowned. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Did something happen? Is it one of the boys?โ€

At those words, Morgan halted. She turned and looked at Derrick.

In addition to being his girlfriend, Morgan was also an instructor at the Boysโ€™ Institute. She taught woodworking and was one of the favorite teachers of most of the boys enrolled in the rehabilitation program. She had embraced the underprivileged teens, ignoring their troubled pasts and seeing them for who they were at their core. It was one of the things Derrick loved most about her.

โ€œSomething happened?โ€ she whispered, narrowing her green eyes.

He shrugged helplessly as he listened to Gary on the other end.

โ€œYeah, itโ€™s one of the boys. Heโ€™s disappeared,โ€ Gary finally explained.

โ€œWho?โ€

โ€œCole Humphries, sir. We checked the dormitories, all the classrooms, the basketball court . . . everywhere, and we canโ€™t find him. One of the kids said he thinks he saw Cole sneak out last night, but itโ€™s not on any of our security footage. We donโ€™t know where he went.โ€

Derrick grimaced.

Cole was one of his more troubled students. He had been working for one of the biggest drug kingpins in D.C., Dolla Dolla, before one of his crimes had landed him at the Institute. Heโ€™d even been holding and transporting drugs and money for Dolla Dolla at the school, until Derrick and Morgan had confronted him together and put a stop to it. Cole had promised them that he would no longer work for Dolla Dolla, that he would clean up his ways. Now Derrick wondered if he had been telling them the truth.

โ€œOkay,โ€ he murmured. โ€œIโ€™ll be in soon. Iโ€™ll start making phone calls to see if I can track him down.โ€ โ€œOkay, sir,โ€ Gary said before hanging up.

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€ Morgan asked as Derrick lowered his cell phone back to his night table.

โ€œColeโ€™s missing.โ€

โ€œWhat? Did he run away?โ€

โ€œLooks like it,โ€ he said, yanking his towel from around his waist and tossing it to the floor. He strode to his dresser and began to gather underwear and socks.

She dazedly shook her head. โ€œBut why would he . . . I donโ€™t understand.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t either, but I have to find him before the cops do.โ€ He stepped into his boxer briefs. โ€œHeโ€™s going to be in violation of his sentence for leaving the Institute like this. He could get sent to jail.โ€

Though the boy had been a thorn in Derrickโ€™s side pretty much since heโ€™d arrived at the Institute, he didnโ€™t want to see Cole go to prison. Putting a young man in a cell with older, hardened criminals who had committed much worse crimes than him would only make Cole worse, not better. And honestly, Derrick saw a little of his young self in Coleโ€”the false bravado, the swagger. Those were the same traits that had landed Derrick at the Institute twenty years ago, before heโ€™d learned the error of his ways.

โ€œIโ€™ll help you,โ€ Morgan said, making him pause and stare at her in surprise.

โ€œHuh?โ€

โ€œI said Iโ€™ll help you find Cole! Iโ€™ll talk to some of his friends at the Institute. Maybe theyโ€™ll tell me why he would leave . . . where he went. He could be at his momโ€™s house, but he might not. What if he went back to Dolla? What if something happened and he just had to go, Derrick?โ€

Derrick was considering that, too. Maybe Cole hadnโ€™t run away from school, but was fleeing from something else . . . or someoneelse.

โ€œThe boys trust me. They might tell me stuff that they wonโ€™t tell the rest of you,โ€ she insisted.

โ€œYou donโ€™t have to do this.โ€

After all that he had put her through, she would still be willing to help him?

โ€œI know. But I care about Cole and what happens to him.โ€

He stared at her for several seconds before slowly nodding. โ€œOkay. Thank you.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s be clear though. This ainโ€™t for you. Weโ€™redone.โ€ She pointed at herself then him then back again. โ€œThis is for Cole.โ€ She zipped her duffel bag closed and threw the strap over her shoulder. โ€œIโ€™ll wait for you in the living room while you get dressed,โ€ she said.

He watched silently as she walked out of the room.

ALL THE KINGS MEN by Kennedy Ryan (CHARACTER REVEAL)

October 14, 2019 by ReeseRyan

“KENNEDY RYAN ALWAYS DELIVERS A STORY WITH EMOTION, POWER, AND OFF-THE-CHARTS SEXUAL TENSION – I DIDN’T THINK SHE COULD RAISE THE BAR ANY HIGHER, BUT SHE DID IT! THE KINGMAKER BLEW ME AWAY.”

 — USA Today Bestselling Author, Robin Covington

All The Kingโ€™s Men Duet, an all-new powerful and emotional duet from RITA ยฎ Award winning author Kennedy Ryan, is coming October 28th, and we have the first sneak peek!

Power. Passion. Betrayal.

RITAยฎ  Award-winning author Kennedy Ryan delivers the epic first installment of the All the Kingโ€™s Men Duet.

Raised to rule, bred to lead and weaned on a diet of ruthless ambition. In a world of haves and have nots, my family has it all, and I want nothing to do with it.

My path takes me far from home and paints me as the black sheep. At odds with my father, Iโ€™m determined to build my own empire. I have rules, but Lennix Hunter is the exception to every one of them. From the moment we meet, something sparks between us. But my family stole from hers and my father is the man she hates most. I lied to have her, and would do anything to keep her. Though she tries to hate me, too, the inexorable pull between us will not be denied.

And neither will I.

EXCERPT

โ€œSome would call your perspective radical.โ€

โ€œSome would be right,โ€ I say with my sweetest smile. โ€œIโ€™ll continue loving this country on one hand and exposing the governmentโ€™s kleptocratic practices on the other.โ€

โ€œWhat are we supposed to do with that information, Ms. Hunter?โ€ Bryce asks. โ€œFeel guilty for something our ancestors did? Doesnโ€™t this line of discussion simply perpetuate the divisiveness thatโ€™s tearing our country apart? How is this productive?โ€ โ€œNot only is it productive, itโ€™s essential. Most Americans donโ€™t really know the full truth of what happened to Native people because our history books donโ€™t tell it. We have to know what happened if we are to ensure it never happens again. And itโ€™s not just what occurred in the past, but whatโ€™s still happening. Weโ€™re still living with it, and there are things that can be done now. This is not about blaming for the past. Itโ€™s about us all being responsible for the future.โ€

A PRIVATE AFFAIR BY A.C. ARTHUR

October 11, 2019 by ReeseRyan

Rivals for the runways. Enemies in the industry. And for a single sinfully hot night, theyโ€™re about to indulge in the one thing theyโ€™re not allowedโ€ฆeach other.

Fashion executive Riley Gold knows that appearances are everything. And New Yearโ€™s Eve in Milan is no exception. If Rileyโ€™s going to have a reputation for being an โ€œice princess,โ€ then sheโ€™s going to be flawless, glacier-cold perfection. Especially when Chaz Warren is here, looking too damn good, too damn sexyโ€ฆand every inch the enemy.

Not only are their families fashion archrivals, but social media mogul Chaz Warren is a playerโ€”and the world knows it. But for one X-rated night, Riley will give in to the electric lust thatโ€™s always been crackling between them. All it takes is a searing kiss to turn the heat from simmering to full-on passionโ€ฆ

Riley thought one night with Chaz would be enough. But itโ€™s not enough, not nearly. Now Riley and Chaz are having a privateโ€”and completely naughtyโ€”affair, and hiding the scandalizing truth from both the tabloids and their feuding families. But keeping her deliciously hot enemy close wonโ€™t just melt the ice around Rileyโ€™s heartโ€ฆhe could incinerate it completely.
